The new £7m Stourport Medical Centre in North Worcestershire has reached practical completion and will open its doors to patients on 20 June. This modern, accessible, and sustainable building has been delivered by the expert gbpartnerships develop team on behalf of Wyre Forest Health Partnership. It will replace and combine the town's two outdated doctors’ surgeries with an exemplary, fit for purpose centre. The development of this new primary care estate in Stourport is vital in ensuring the future of primary care for the locality and will serve c22,000 of the town’s residents.
gbpartnerships consult initially worked with GPs and the team from Wyre Forest Health Partnership’s York House and Stourport Health Centre surgeries to understand current building utilisation and what accommodation was required for the future. The team then developed successful business cases, which secured an NHS Capital Grant and CCG revenue support.
gbpartnerships develop then negotiated the site purchase, obtained planning permission and, in conjunction with Key Construction, completed construction of the building.
The gbpartnerships develop team worked closely with Assura plc on funding for the development, with Assura becoming the building’s long-term owner and property partner to WFHP.
A formal opening is planned for the Medical Centre later in the summer.
