Congratulations to team gbp consult – Tori, Joe, Kyri and Henry - who successfully completed the Tough Mudder on Saturday 15th April and raised over £1,000 for The Trussel Trust in the process.
The team of four "Food Fighters" who were supported by the gbp foundation, chose to take on the Tough Mudder Challenge to raise money for the Trussell Trust who last year provided over 2.1 million emergency food parcels to people in crisis through their network of food banks, with 832,000 of these parcels going to children. gbp consult Analyst, Joseph Butron, commented:
"Fantastic organisations like this deserve our support, and we see no cause more worthy to get beaten up for!"
About The Trussel Trust: Nearly 14 million people in the UK (one in five people) struggle getting enough to eat. That includes 4 million children!
Those numbers have soared as a result of the cost of living crisis, with food price inflation hitting an all-time high of 13.1%. In London alone, more than 2.3 million Londoners live below the poverty line and 33% of adults have skipped meals to save money so that their children can eat.
There are more people in food insecurity now than there were at the height of the pandemic, with mixed ethnicity families being 32% more likely to live in relative poverty.
“People are telling us they’re skipping meals so they can feed their children. That they are turning off essential appliances so they can afford internet access for their kids to do their homework… and it’s only getting worse”
Chief Executive, Trussell Trust.
