This Christmas, the gbpfoundation is making a range of donations to good causes and charities that are close to the hearts of our staff.
On the tenth day of Christmas giving, the gbpfoundation donated £200 to Leek Town FC Wildcats. The Football Club was nominated for a donation from gbpFoundation by Becky Jones, gbpartnerships Managing Consultant. Becky explains a little more about the club and how the donation will help:
“Leek Town FC are the only club in the local area that provide girls only teams and training. Although there are some girls that are happy to play in a mainly male team, not all feel confident to do this, especially at the younger ages.
This year has been really hard for the club due to having a cap on numbers of children attending, meaning they have not been able to raise as much money through subs that help go towards winter pitch costs. This has meant that the club have had to make the difficult decision to change how parents pay for the sessions over the winter.
The club are very aware that some parents could be struggling financially due to the Covid-19 pandemic and this donation will be used specifically to pay for bursary’s for children of parents who are experiencing difficulties – meaning that they can still attend training which is even more important during lockdown and the winter months.
They’re a great club and really help the local community. I know how much this donation will mean to them and the families that will be able to be supported through the bursary.”
