On the sixth day of Christmas giving...

Updated: Mar 18, 2021

This Christmas, the gbpfoundation is making a range of donations to good causes and charities that are close to the hearts of our staff.

On the sixth day of Christmas, the gbpfoundation donated £100 the SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. The charity was nominated for a donation by Joseph Potter, gbpartnerships Business & Quality Administrator. Joe explains a little more about what the work of the charity means to him:

“The charity helps many servicemen and servicewomen from the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, the British Army and the Royal Air Force, alongside their families. This help extends to a range of things, however, the predominant focus of the organisation is to assist those who need physical and mental care.
This means a great deal to me as my maternal grandfather, Lawrence, fought in the British Army during the second world war in the Burma campaign, and my paternal grandfather Joe, served in the Royal Corps of Signals. They lived in a time where support for servicemen was scarce and they could really have benefited from an organisation like the SSAFA post-service.
This Christmas may be particularly tough for ex-servicemen and servicewomen and their families, regarding the current COVID-19 pandemic, as it is likely to bring up additional adversities alongside those they face on a regular basis. I’d like to thank the gbpfoundation for supporting this cause that means so much to me.”
