This Christmas, the gbpfoundation is making a range of donations to good causes and charities that are close to the hearts of our staff.
On the eleventh day of Christmas giving, the gbpfoundation donated £250 to The Incredible Surplus (previously known as The Real Junk Food Project), based at the at Ladywood Community Centre in Birmingham.
The project was nominated for a donation from gbpFoundation by Jenny Sadler, gbpartnerships Head of Finance. Jenny explains a little more about the work of the project:
“The Incredible Surplus is located at the Ladywood Community Centre which is half a mile from the gbpartnerships’ Birmingham office. The project provides hot meals and food packages to local communities in need of a helping hand.
Originally established in 2014 as The Real Junk Food Project Birmingham, the project intercept’s food and other usable materials that would otherwise go to waste from supermarkets, restaurants and other sources, and provide them to individuals and community organisations on a “Pay-As-You-Feel” basis.
The donation from the gbpfoundation will go towards the running costs of the project, enabling them to continue supplying rescued food to those who can’t afford to shop at supermarkets.”
