This Christmas, the gbpfoundation is making a range of donations to good causes and charities that are close to the hearts of our staff.
On the eighth day of Christmas giving, the gbpfoundation donated £150 to Ashgate Hospice who provide care and support to people across North Derbyshire. The hospice was nominated for a donation from the gbpFoundation by Lisa Brettelle, gbpartnerships Lead Estates Business Performance Manager. Lisa explains what Ashgate Hospice means to her:
“When my Aunt, Judith, suddenly fell sick during the first lockdown, she was admitted to hospital and following her discharge, she deteriorated very quickly. Judith wanted to stay at home, so Ashgate Hospice provided palliative care for her, along with support and assistance for my Uncle and me.
Throughout it all, the hospice was wonderful and caring, and their work meant that when Judith passed away on the 13 May, she was surrounded by people who love her.
The hospice continued to stay in touch and support myself and my Uncle, at a time when I know their resources are tight – due to the effect that the pandemic has had on donations, charity shop income and other sources of revenue.
This funding from the gbpfoundation will go a small way towards helping to the hospice carry on their amazing work. ”
