We are delighted to report that the build is progressing well for the new Dartmouth Health & Wellbeing Centre. Main contractor, Classic Builders (SW), started work on site in June and are currently completing the below damp proof course works so that the floor slabs can be poured and the ground floor walls can be progressed. This important new facility is due to be completed in summer 2022, providing accommodation for Dartmouth Medical Practice, a wide range of Torbay & South Devon NHS Foundation Trust outpatient services and an integrated pharmacy.
The whole building will be built to achieve a BREEAM Environmental Assessment rating of Very Good and will include measures such as photovoltaic panels on the roof to generate electricity. The design of the parking has been developed to incorporate environmentally friendly permeable paving to allow surface water to soakaway rather than being piped into the sewer systems for offsite management or treatment.
The project is being delivered via a joint venture partnership between gbpartnerships and Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, known as South Devon Health Innovation Partnerships or SDHIP. Funding for this project is being provided by the Trust and South Hams District Council who will own the building upon completion.
