Now in their eighth year, the HSJ Partnership Awards, have become the most recognised and respected mark of the strongest relationships between suppliers and the NHS. The Project
Located in Plymouth, Devon, the Mount Gould Campus is home to several critical healthcare services. The Mount Gould Project represents a significant step forward in enhancing patient care and staff wellbeing within the NHS. The primary objective was to relocate the Plymouth Neurological Rehabilitation Service from outdated facilities on the Mount Gould Campus to a modern, previously underutilised space at the Local Care Centre (LCC) on the same campus. This strategic relocation is designed not only to improve the patient experience but also to create a more conducive working environment for our dedicated staff.
The project was driven by a dedicated steering group comprising key stakeholders, including NHS England, Community Health Partnerships, NHS Property Services, NHS Devon Integrated Care Board, Livewell Southwest, ReSound Health LIFTCo, University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, and Baxendale. Together, these organisations aligned their financial, operational, and strategic goals to ensure a smooth and successful transition.
The £6.9 million investment in the LCC, funded by Community Health Partnerships, has resulted in a modern facility that is expected to benefit approximately 20,000 patients annually, offering better accessibility and creating an environment conducive to rehabilitation. In addition, the £2.2 million refurbishment of the Beauchamp Centre, funded by NHS Property Services, now accommodates over 170 podiatry and orthotics appointments daily, significantly increasing service capacity and improving accessibility for patients.
This project exemplifies how strategic master planning and collaboration between public and private sector partners can successfully transform NHS facilities, optimise resource allocation, and enhance the experience for both patients and staff.
We extend our gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the success of this initiative and look forward to the final outcomes at the HSJ Partnership Awards.
