gbpartnerships have recently completed a project at Crawley Hospital, building on previous projects and strong relationships with the Client, NHS Property Services. The gbp team were appointed on behalf of West Sussex Estates Partnership to deliver the project. The initial project scope was to carry out works to make a vacated in-patient ward area compliant in terms of fire, water, electrics, ventilation etc. The project then grew to include a full refurbishment as well as the compliance works.
Whilst the work was to an unoccupied area, gbpartnerships and the Contractor had to be mindful of working in a live hospital environment as the building had live operational areas, such as a ward and outpatient department, both above and alongside the construction site.
The team worked hard to nurture and maintain good working relationships with all stakeholders, delivering the works safely and with minimal disruption to occupiers and visitors to the building.
gbp Senior Project Manager Andrew Hemsley commented: "The completed project was very well received by the Client, NHS Property Services, and the end users. We have been advised on a previous ward refurbishment project, also carried out at this site, that the improved facility had resulted in an increased interest in clinical staff wanting to work there and we hope that this would be the same for the new Caravelle Ward.”
