Back in 2020, gbp consult were commissioned by Community Health Partnerships (CHP), via the local LIFT Company, ReSound Health, to undertake a capacity and utilisation study at Mount Gould Local Care Centre (LCC), a high-quality LIFT building in Plymouth that opened in 2006.
gbp consult’s analysis identified existing space within Mount Gould LCC that could be better utilised to further improve community care and bring together services under one roof.
We are delighted that the recommendations from our analysis are close to becoming a reality, with the £6.9m reconfiguration project at Mount Gould LCC entering its final phases, which once complete later this year, will accommodate the Plym Neuro Rehabilitation Service, driving service integration and realising efficiencies.
Mount Gould LCC currently delivers a range of healthcare services, providing both inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient services. The project will reconfigure existing space to allow for the relocation of the Plym Neuro Service (an inpatient facility for adults with acquired brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and other neurological conditions) into a new, modern, and fit for purpose health care facility. The new facility will enable an increase in appointments per year, improvements in patient outcomes (such as discharge times); enhanced staff retention and lower energy costs.
Phase 1 of the Plym Neuro scheme successfully completed last month, and this modern facility now boasts clinical rooms, treatment trolley spaces, changing rooms, a wellbeing session room, a meeting room and a small gym.
gbpartnerships are Project Managers for the reconfiguration works, which is CHP’s biggest capital funded variation to date. The relocation of the Plym Neuro Service will complement the other existing services currently delivered from the site allowing for a ‘one stop shop’.
