It’s day 7 of gbp’s 13 days of Christmas giving and today we highlight the work of Wolverhampton based Compton Care. Compton Care provides high quality, accessible care and support for the people in our communities living with life limiting conditions. Their specialist palliative care and bereavement support services are available to patients aged 18 or over and their families living in Wolverhampton, parts of the Black Country (Walsall, Sandwell and Dudley), South Staffordshire and east Shropshire. The charity was nominated for a gbp foundation Christmas donation by Gemma Dixon, gbp manage, Management Accountant & Team Supervisor. Gemma has actively fundraised for the charity over the past couple of years and regularly volunteers for Compton Care on the weekends. There is no charge for patients or their loved ones to use Compton Care services and the fundraising that Gemma has been involved in has helped raised vital funds to go towards the annual costs of over £10million to run Compton Care's clinical and support services. Gemma explained a bit more about why she nominated the charity for a donation:
"Compton Care is very close to my heart since losing Nan in 2021 to Pancreatic Cancer. They are very deserving cause and since nominating them for a donation last year from the gbp foundation, I have taken on a regular weekend volunteering role, in order to give a little bit more back to Compton!"
Well done and thank you Gemma, for all that you do for Compton Care. To find out more or support Compton Care, visit their website https://www.comptoncare.org.uk/
