As the festive season begins, we're thrilled to launch gbp’s 13 Days of Christmas Giving, where each day in the run up to Christmas we spotlight amazing charities making a real difference in our communities, and make a donation on behalf of a gbp colleague.
Today, we shine a light on Noah's Star, a beacon of hope for families navigating the challenging journey of premature and sick babies within the West Midlands. Sarah Clarson, Assistant Estates Manager nominated Noah’s Star for a donation. The charity is close to Sarah’s heart and she is one of Noah's Star's dedicated volunteers.
Noah's Star provides invaluable support to families in the neo-natal unit, ensuring that no one faces these difficult times alone. From a warm cup of tea to a listening ear, their volunteers offer compassion and practical help during what can be an overwhelming experience. But their impact doesn’t stop there. Noah's Star is also a multi-award-winning training provider specializing in mental health training, including Mental Health First Aid. Their dedication to building resilience and mental well-being within the community sets them apart as a truly holistic charity.
Here Sarah shares her experience and explains a bit more about her connection with the charity:
“I volunteer 2-4 hours per week with Noah's Star and have witnessed first-hand what an incredible charity it is. Together with other volunteers, I provide support to families in the neo-natal unit at Birmingham Women's Hospital. This includes everything from making a comforting cup of tea to looking after siblings of babies in the unit, giving parents the chance to speak with doctors or spend meaningful time with their baby. The charity goes above and beyond, offering vital support to the entire family when a baby is born premature or sick, or when a child is admitted to the hospital. As someone who was a premature baby myself, I often reflect on how much my mom would have benefited from a charity like this back then.”
This Christmas, consider how you can help Noah’s Star continue their vital work. Whether it’s donating, volunteering, or spreading the word about their mission, your support can make a tangible difference in the lives of families during their toughest times.
Stay tuned as we continue our 13 Days of Christmas Giving, celebrating charities like Noah’s Star that embody the true spirit of the season: love, care, and community.
