Congratulations to all of the project partners behind the Crawley Child Development Centre (CDC), which picked up the award for the Refurbishment Project of the Year at the IHEEM Healthcare Estates Awards 2024.
The project is part of NHS Property Services Healthy Places Programme, and the new space provides dedicated, modern, fit-for-purpose accommodation, supporting the delivery of integrated services to more of the local population, reducing waiting times and the need for multiple appointments. gbp assessed various options for the provision of the new CDC, culminating in a fully reconfigured floor of the Yellow Wing of Crawley Hospital.
gbp have been involved with the delivery of embedded Project Management Services at Crawley Hospital for many years. As a key service provider to the LIFTCo, West Sussex Estates Partnership, the expert team have been employed by NHS Property Services to maintain an on-site team to undertake project management and employer's agent roles.
gbp’s Andrew Hemsley and Mags Cahill led on the Project Management of the new Centre, ensuring the delivery a high quality finished project for the client. They said:
“The creative design by JSA and hard work of the contractor, LST Projects, to provide a focal point of a tree within the waiting area, was an ingenious idea. It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of the hard work and commitment in delivering a much needed facility to such a high standard. Congratulations to the whole Team.”
Tamsyn Flynn, gbp consult, Managing Consultant, represented gbp at the awards (pictured below), she said:
“A key aspect of the project was to develop a centre that operates as a hospital should, but doesn't feel like a hospital to the children. The team did a phenomenal job of achieving this, and I'm so pleased they've been recognised with this award. Thanks to Jefferson Sheard for submitting the nomination.”
