The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Diagnostics report into Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) was published this week and makes fascinating reading for those interested in the CDC programme.
There’s lots of great case studies included in the report, for example, the Wood Green shopping centre CDC (which gbp consult was technical advisor for) where phlebotomy patients are given buzzers so they can go and do some shopping whilst they wait, making patients’ experience more pleasant whilst reducing the need for waiting space.
gbpartnerships agrees with the report’s recommendations for government to provide financial and commercial support to deliver CDCs in community-based sites, such as shopping centres and already established high-quality community health and wellbeing centres, such as the CDC at Finchley Memorial Hospital. It makes sense given the significant benefits that these locations have in terms of transport links and proximity to the communities that need the services most.
